Ensemble Video Acquired by Panopto
We have big news here at Ensemble: we’re becoming a part of the Panopto family!
We’re very excited about the next stage of our development — and we hope you are, too.
The Time Is Right to Move From Competition to Cooperation
This acquisition will allow us to join forces to create more powerful technology for you, our customers. As we’ve seen this past year, there is still significant opportunity to creatively develop, improve and expand on video platform offerings for schools and businesses.
In the education space specifically, the massive increase in digital teaching during the pandemic led to Google Classroom pulling back on free offerings and K12 schools increasingly requiring full video platform solutions. It’s a time when great innovation in this space is both needed and possible. We look forward to evolving our offerings to meet these growing needs in collaboration with Panopto.
“Ensemble is thrilled to become part of the Panopto and K1 family,” Scott Nadzan, CEO of Ensemble Video, said. “We have always been impressed by Panopto’s product and their skilled team.”
While Panopto and Ensemble used to compete for customers, in many ways we’ve been working together since 2007. Both companies have worked to educate schools and businesses about how video technology could transform their work.
“Since 2007, Panopto and Ensemble have led the way in making searchable video management systems a must-have solution for the world’s workplaces and schools,” said Eric Burns, CEO of Panopto. “The use of on-demand video for communication and learning has grown rapidly over the last year, and we are delighted to join forces with Ensemble to support our new customers with an easy, innovative, unified video management system. The Ensemble and Panopto teams are committed to offering our customers a seamless migration path to a unified platform backed by the terrific support they have come to expect from both companies.”
“I see this as a transformational day for our companies, because together we are positioned to grow through technical evolution, service execution and market expansion,” Nadzan added. “This compelling combination brings together best-in-class video capture, management, publishing and engagement offerings for the benefit of all customers and stakeholders.”
What’s Next for Ensemble Video

These features include Panopto’s popular lecture capture solutions, along with Smart Chapters, Multi-Source Streaming and an expanded set of integrations. No immediate change to support, service and contract; our current release is on track for June 2021; however, Ensemble Video will reach “End of New Development” following our next release.
-
Panopto will continue supporting Ensemble Video until September. 2022, we will work on a smooth transition and will communicate a wind down date at least 6 months before it takes place.
