Syracuse, NY – June 26, 2014 –  The Ensemble Video platform today unveiled a new integration with Canvas by Instructure, which unifies video content management and LMS publishing for the user. Available with Ensemble Video 3.6, The Ensemble Video Canvas LTI Tool makes it easy for educators to use video as part of their Canvas course.

Canvas is the popular learning management system built by Instructure, used by more than 12 million students and teachers from more than 700 institutions in higher and K-12 education. Ensemble Video is an online video platform for education that enables organizations of any size to simplify video management and secure publishing across many users and departments.

Educators can take advantage of the new Ensemble Video Canvas LTI Tool to upload audio and video files, access their existing Ensemble Video media libraries, and publish single videos and video playlists into their course, without ever leaving the Canvas interface. This integration simplifies life for everyone on campus because all media content is stored and streamed by Ensemble Video, eliminating file size restrictions and encoding issues.

The Ensemble Video Canvas LTI Tool is one of many new Ensemble Video features that reduce friction for the user, by unifying video content management and LMS publishing into a single experience. The integration will save time and effort for IT staff, who can now offer Ensemble’s powerful education video platform to constituents within the Canvas system, resulting in reduced training and support investments. This integration will also streamline daily technology workflows for instructors, who will not have to bounce back and forth between their LMS and online video platform.

“This is great opportunity for campuses to put the power of video into the hands of educators, in a simple, streamlined way,” says Ensemble Video founder and CEO Andy Covell. “We believe technology is supposed to make things easier, not harder. This integration is a great example of the kind of interoperability that clears the way for educators to stop fighting with technology, and empowers them to focus on leveraging video to enhance the teaching and learning experience.”

The Ensemble Video Canvas LTI Tool will have an immediate impact on hundreds of educational organizations, including mutual Ensemble Video and Canvas customers, like the University of San Francisco, Dartmouth College, Messiah College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and Joliet Junior College.
